Tigers Den luxury accommodation in Waikawa Bay Picton NZ is the ideal place to relax after completing the most magnificent Queen Charlotte track in the Marlborough Sounds.  Listed as one of the great walks this track can now also be completed by mountain bike.

First it is essential to book your accommodation while on the track . Local Picton I Site can do this for you. If you wish to bike the track it can be done in two days . The walk will take you 4/5 days depending on your level of fitness . There is a great water taxi service that will drop you off at start of Queen Charlotte track at Ships Cove and take your heavy pack to your chosen over night accommodation. All you need to take is a light pack with daily provisions and your camera .

The track is 71 Kms in length from Ships Cove to Anakiwa . There are some very nice lodges on your way including your 1 st night at the very popular Furneaux Lodge. Other Lodges include Punga Cove , and Bay OF Many Coves Resort and Portage Hotel ,Te Mahia Bay Resort , and Lochmara Lodge.

The track follows the inlets and coves that make up the sounds travelling among the Beech and Rimu trees along the ridge line of Queen Charlotte and Kenepuru Sounds . The views are quite stunning. Native bush is the home to many of New Zealands  native birds including Bellbird , Tui, Morepork , plus the sea birds Petrel , Weka , Blue Penguin , Shag and the Gannets. The native birds in particular are known as the birds of song especially the Bellbird and Tui.

All of the traffic along the track travel in the same direction so no need to worry about a mountain bike coming the other way . The Queen Charlotte track is a must do on your bucket list.
